Two demi-bloc bbl. sets; one 26”, one 28” are both fitted with narrow matted ventilated game ribs. Tops of bbls. are engraved “J Purdey & Sons.” on top left side and “Audley House. South Audley Street, London, England” on right. All bbls. are stamped with London nitro proofs for 2 3/4” chambers. Casehardened sidelock Woodward type low profile OU action features non-automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold), raised rib tumbler end cocking indicators, and single non-selective trigger, with deeply curved finger blade. Action and locks are engraved with typical Purdey house style rose and scroll. “J. Purdey & Sons” is in parchment scroll device on each lockplate, and also on bottom of action above forend iron mortise with “London England” below. Small bow trigger guard has matching scroll and serial number relief engraved on tang which extends to hard rubber grip cap. Dark, profusely marbled and lightly figured European walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14 7/8” over checkered wood butt. Stock features usual drop points and closely spaced point pattern checkering at grip. Matching one piece ejector forend services both barrel sets and has Anson release.
