INVESTMENT QUALITY ULTRA RARE 8 GAUGE PARKER DH HAMMERLESS GUN WITH ORIGINAL STRAIGHT GRIP STOCK.
Inv. 21-3554
Cal. 8 Ga 3 1/2″. S# 159801.
This high original condition Parker gun matches all specifications as outlined in the serialization ledger with its titanic steel, 34″ barrels and straight grip stock. The Parker Story estimates a total of 37 8 Ga. hammerless guns in D grade being produced, only 10 with titanic steel barrels, and one of which was made with 34″ barrels. All correct markings around flat, matted rib which is fitting with two white beads. Bottom of rear lump is stamped for frame size “6”. Large case hardened action with automatic safety and nickel plated double triggers has all correct markings on water table. Action is engraved in usual “D” style with about 70% coverage scroll engraving within line and geometric borders which surrounds oval vignettes of single dogs on sides. A pointing pointer is on left, and pointing setter is on right. “Parker Bros.” is on riband behind each dog scene. Triggerplate has matching scroll surrounding a scene of 4 indeterminate waterfowl, most likely ducks, flying over a marsh. Triggerguard with scroll on bow has serial number on tang. Well streaked and lightly figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 1/8″ over old, most likely original, Silver pad. Side panels terminate in spear drop points and well-cut point pattern checkering with mullered borders is at grip. A vacant silver oval is on toeline. Matching splinter forend with nicely filed steel tip has usual Parker Deely type release.
