Bbl. measures 31 1/8” and S# 1625 16 Ga. bbl. measures 30”. Both bbl. sets are of chopper lump construction and have narrow matted game ribs. Tops of bbls. are engraved “COLE, INC. HORPSWELL MAINE” and “-ARMI Flli POLI-“. Bbl. flats are stamped with S#s, Ga. and chamber information as well as Italian Nitro proofs. It is interesting that no date code stamp is present. Bottoms of bbls. are stamped with more proof information and chokes denoted by code of stars. Each bbl. set has its own dedicated forend, differentiated by S# “1624” for 12 Ga. and “1625” for 16 Ga. Coin finished top lever, true hammer side lock action. Features non-automatic tang safety and dbl. triggers (front articulated). Action is engraved with a background of very nicely cut and shaded lg. foliate scroll in a field of small scroll, surrounding dynamic Bulino scene of woodcock diving into understory past a birch tree. Lock plates are bulino engraved to the edges with other fine game scenes. A group of chukar partridge descend down hillside with towering mountains in background on left lock. Right lock depicts a cock and hen pheasant in flight over open meadow with another cock pheasant nestled in grass.

This very fine work is by Studio Morghen with signature on trigger plate which is also signed “Mae Beffa”. Steel trigger guard has matching scroll on bow and S# on tang inlaid in gold. Round knob buttstock of near exhibition quality, finely marbled and stump figured European walnut measures 15 3/8” over checkered wood butt. Very closely spaced, borderless point pattern checkering wraps over top of grip. Matching semi-beaver tail forends have Anson releases. 12 Ga. bbls. are choke modified and full and the 16 Ga. bbls. improved cylinder and modified. 12 Ga. bbls.: DAC 1 1/2”, DAH 2 1/8”, Cast approximately 3/4” off.
