EXTREMELY RARE DUFILHO CONFEDERATE CAVALRY OFFICER’S SABER.
inv # 02-15514
This is one of only 2 known Dufilho, New Orleans made “pelican feeding young” with C & S motif with extra branches. It is most unusual utilizing a pattern 1796 British blade and scabbard. Cavalry officer who carried this sword wanted a heavy blade. It is quite possible that the officer had Dufilho update family sword, maybe a sword captured from the British in the war of 1812. Regardless, this is a wonderful original sword with a rich collection history and has been published in several books.
