Stock: Curly maple full length stock held by 4 iron keys. Right side of stock has 4 piece, rectangular lid, engraved patchbox w/ daisy head.
Markings: Top flat has partially visible script marking “A. Schweitzer”.
Notes: “American Gunsmiths” by Frank M. Sellers has the following listing: “SCHWEITZER, ABRAHAM, (1769-1831). Lancaster, Pennsylvania, 1794-1795, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, 1795-1831. Flintlock Kentucky.”. This rifle is pictured & described as “One of his earliest guns, possibly made in Lancaster” on pg. 91 by Whisker in “Gunsmiths of Adams, Franklin, Cumberland County, PA”.
