VERY FINE CASED COLT RICHARDS CONVERSION 1860 ARMY REVOLVER
01-24005
Cal. 44 CF
S# 200307
This is a very fine example of the distinctive Richard’s conversion Colt army which was made concurrently with the first SAA revolvers 1873-1877 which Richards was also involved in the design. This revolver is among the last of the Colt 1860 armies manufactured in last year of production 1873. Standard configuration with 8” round barrel “ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA”, loading lever removed and replaced with ejector on right side the barrel lug. Small “COLTS/PATENT” on the left side of the frame, “44 CAL” on the left side of trigger guard.
This revolver retains most of its original blue & case color finish. Revolver has mixed serial numbers, 300307 on frame & barrel, 300007 on trigger guard and backstrap (probably factory error), cylinder has 268 externally, but matching last 4 digits 0307 on back. Matching assembly number 807 observed on cylinder pin & loading door. Revolver is housed in a fine Colt army mahogany casing. Two wood blocks have been expertly cut to gently fit the powder flask mortise to hold 29 cartridges & square mortise has wood block placed to hold oiler. Fine 1873 Colt “L” shaped SAA tool, pewter oil bottle, and 30 center fire UMC 44 cartridges are in casing.
