Scarce WWII sniping rifle mfg. by Birmingham Small Arms Co. The combination of the #4 rifle & #32 telescopic sight was adopted early in WWII. Specially selected rifles were given a wooden cheekpiece & the battle aperture was removed from the rear sight to clear the scope. Receiver marked on left side “NO. 4 MK 1 T”. Left side of butt socket in body M47C indicating mfg. by BSA Shirley dated 1944. TR indicating rifle was selected for sniper conversion. Receiver ring has England export mark on right side & export proofs on right side of bbl. Rifle has adj. rear sight graduated to 1,300 yards. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. Rifle has been fitted w/ #32 telescope sight. Scope marked on top “Tel.Spg.No 32 MK3 BS. 2039A. CTS” logo & “No 18904”. Mount numbered on left side over forward attaching knob “?92”. S# appears R33870. Scope rings have matching number right side. Scope has S sharp post reticle w/ horizontal cross wire. Windage & elevation knobs move freely. Hardwood stock set. Buttstock has been renumbered at top of grip to 18904. Hardwood cheekpiece attached w/ blued steel screws. White metal trap buttplate. Sling swivel bows are not present.
