EXTREMELY RARE COLT INFANTRY AUTOMATIC RIFLE ASSEMBLY ON FACTORY M4 CARBINE.

The latest entrant in the United States military Infantry Light Machine Gun category is the Colt Infantry Automatic Rifle (IAR). Taking over for the SAW weighing in at approx. 17lbs & the LMG at around 13lbs. The IAR/M27 seems light at 9.5lbs by comparison. The IAR utilizes a patented monolithic upper receiver w/ numerous rail systems spanning 3, 6, 9, 12 o’clock. The longest coming in at almost 13″ at 12 o’clock. One of the most recognizable features is the massive heatsink below the bbl. which is supposed to significantly reduce the risk of cook offs during extended periods of firing, as well as dramatically increasing bbl. life. Bbl. is threaded 1/7 RH w/ the intention at its length of 16.1″ of pushing the muzzle velocity of M855 ammo around 2920 FPS. The IAR is a direct gas impingement system, firing from a closed bolt regardless of mode of fire. This example has a threaded muzzle & A2 flash hider w/ bayonet lug just forward of heat sink. Bbl. marked “13629 MP”, “5.56 NATO 1/7”. Folding front sight atop gas block. Folding precision peep rear sight, windage & elevation adj. Equipped w/ G.P.S. Grip Pod Systems retractable bipod/vertical forend. Brass deflector on upper receiver & rnd. forward assist. Markings on left side lower receiver as follows: “M4 CARBINE”, “CAL. 5.56MM”, “COLT DEFENSE”, “HARTFORD, CONN.”, “U.S.A.”. Selector markings “SAFE-FIRE” on left & right. VLTOR 4 position collapsible buttstock w/ trapdoor & tubes for battery & accessory storage. MAGS: 1 20 rd. & 1 30 rd. Colt aluminum mags.
