24″ octagon w/ King’s Improvement marking. Sporting leaf rear w/ base only for rocky mountain front sight. Full length mag. Brass action has scroll engraving w/ punch dot backgrounds that is likely the work of John Ulrich. Left sideplate has an open circular vignette. Complementary engraving continues to forend cap & peak of brass crescent buttplate. Forend & straight grip stock are custom replacements of exhibition quality Bastogne walnut. Their full fiddle figure is highlighted by rich orange & brown tones w/ dark streaking. Stock & forend cap use original sling swivels. MFG. 1876. UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: Cody Firearms Museum letter stating: “Serial number application date not available / Type: Rifle / Engraved / Received in Warehouse on January 15,1876 / Shipped from warehouse on January 16, 1876, Order number 2654”.
