Earliest production with shortest 3.45″ (3 7/16″) barrel, engraved “Colts Patent” instead of address, .5″ capping cutout, matching S# 6 observed on frame, cylinder, & grips, no S# on bottom of barrel. Burnette in his 2015 text states only 175 model 1s were made, and survivors are very rare.
