ATTRACTIVE FEDERAL CURLY MAPLE, CHERRY AND MAHOGANY INLAID BOWFRONT BUTLER’S SECRETARY CHEST

Ca. 1800, Portsmouth, NH. In two parts; the upper case of two panel doors inlaid with curly maple oval paterae and mahogany cross-banding, opening to an interior of four drawers beneath pigeonholes; all in red paint. The lower case, a bowfront chest of drawers with writing slide over four long drawers with tiger maple veneer fronts, cross-banded borders and cockbeaded edges, raised on tapering French feet centering a central rectangular inlaid pendant panel.
