Bbl. 28″ w/ Moneymaker vent rib having long receiver extension. Fixed full choke. Steel bead. Action has exquisite custom pattern hand engraving. Right side features vignettes w/ deep relief woodland scenes. The rear vignette features 2 pointing dogs. The vignette under the ejection port features 2 partridges. Left side vignettes have deep relief scenes featuring 3 bobwhite quail w/ 2 woodcock in the second scene. Scenes & action edges are surrounded by highlights of vine type foliate scroll & straight line borders. Complimenting engraving extends to upper & lower receiver areas as well as mag. band & muzzle end of bbl. Jeweled bolt & carrier. Beavertail forearm & pistol grip custom stock of exhibition quality European walnut. Steel grip cap has deep relief engraving featuring an eagle over a shield & American flag. Curved steel buttplate has highlights of scroll engraving w/ straight line borders that match the action. Fine borderless hand checkering w/ ribboned segmenting on the forearm. LOP: 14″. Mfg. 1940. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: letters between the consignor & Howard V. Grant gun engraver, Woodruff, WI. Mr. Grant confirms that he did in-fact engrave this shotgun.
