HIGHLY ORNATE CONTEMPORARY “DK” MARKED SWIVEL BREECH FLINTLOCK RIFLE

Bbl. 38″ octagon w/ rifled bores. Top flats have gold filled maker’s stamps “DK”. German silver blade front sights w/ fixed V notch rear sights. Engraved lock, pan & frizzen sections & swivel breech are finished in the white w/ borderline & geometric engraving w/ scroll highlights. Curled plain trigger has ornate rear edge. Full length forearm panels & Roman nose cheekpiece stock of fancy curly maple. 1 forearm panel holds a brass tipped artificially striped hardwood ramrod in faceted brass thimble & 2 pipes. Ramrod channel borders are molded. Screw fastened panels have pierced German silver fancy finial escutcheons. Rear of forearm panels next to the frizzen spring have grotesque mask German silver inlays. Stock has a very ornate engraved brass rectangular lid pierced & segmented patchbox w/ daisy finial. Brass crescent buttplate, toe plate, finger curled trigger guard & side plate have geometric & border engraving w/ scroll highlights. Side plate features patriotic themed engraving. The molded cheekpiece w/ German silver lower border is ornamented w/ a pierced circular German silver inlay w/ an 8 point star & oblong stone at the center. Outstanding relief carving between the cheekpiece & buttplate features 2 roaring lions on either side of an American eagle w/ German silver shield having German silver highlights at the lion’s feet. Complimenting relief carving is found on both sides below the peak of the comb. The wrist area of the stock has ornate engraved German silver floral inlays w/ wire highlights & an oval wrist plate.
