HIGHLY ENGRAVED WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE

Bbl. 24″ octagon to round.
Lyman no. 4 bead front sight w/ sporting leaf rear sight. Button mag. Action has spectacular unsigned full coverage engraving that closely resembles the factory no. 1 pattern. Right side has an oval vignette above loading gate w/ a stalking mountain lion. Forward vignette wraps around top & front of loading gate w/ a woodland scene featuring a foraging mule deer buck. Left side mountain scene shows a bugling bull elk. Scenes are surrounded by vine type scroll w/ punch dot backgrounds & fancy borders that continues to upper receiver & tangs. Bottom of action has complimenting scroll engraving. Borderline engraving is found on the forearm cap. Blue finish w/ case colored hammer & lever. Walnut forearm & hard rubber capped pistol grip stock of XX grade walnut w/ style H hand checkering.
LOP: 13 9/16″ over a solid red Silvers pad. Left inside of lower tang is marked w/ assembly number “26” w/ wood grade marking “XX”. Top tang channel of stock has matching assembly number “26”.
UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: letter from Cody Firearms Museum detailing the following information, “Rifle. 45/70 caliber. Barrel Length: 24 inches. Barrel Shape: 1/2 Octagon. Plain trigger. Fancy checkered stock w/ pistol grip & forearm. Sights: Klyman Hunting front sight. 1/2 magazine. Silver’s Recoil Pad. “Polished Receiver”. “Without Finish”. Received in warehouse on August 28, 1902.
