The HK21 is often thought the pinnacle of a serious HK collection. A 7.62 NATO, belt feed, designed to perform w/ readily available US M13 links and/or MG3 non-disintegrating belts . With design concept history going back as far as 1961, & having been through a few major design changes & upgrades it is still active around the globe today.
Designed as a heavy bbl. MG w/ quick change capability it was intended to excel at roles usually reserved for a machine gun w/ the general weight of a battle rifle w/ accuracy potential of a sniper rifle. It could be fired off-hand, prone from a bipod or on a sturdy tripod system.
This particular example started life as a PTR91 by JLD Enterprises before being transformed to the 21 belt fed. Receiver section including handguard painted traditional dark black. Barrel, bipod & feed mechanism parkerized. Barrel is threaded, terminated w/ correct flash hider, marked “ah FMP”. The folding bipod can be utilized either on the muzzle end in a traditional fashion or just forward of the receiver where corresponding slots exist for both. Traditional hooded front post sight & 1200m rear peep sight. Trigger group is housed in a black plastic SEF lower. The proper HK21 clubfoot stock is utilized, including the tripod mounting point, rear of the takedown pins. Spring loaded, carry handle mounted above front trunnion. Enlarged, left side, non reciprocating charging handle.
Receiver markings include left side data plate above belt feed mechanism, which reads: “HK 21EUG” serial number “B0216” on top below carry handle, and on front of feed mechanism “PTR91 JLD ENT / FARMINGTON CT 308 CAL”. Bolt carrier marked “HK 4/70”.
