EXQUISITE GEORGE III PAINT DECORATED PEMBROKE TABLE

Last quarter 18th century, England. This mahogany table with bowed ends and shaped hinged leaves above a rectangular frieze fitted with single cork beaded drawer raised on square tapering legs terminating in brass capped castors. The painted decoration is exquisite overall and in the style of Angelica Kauffman. The central roundel painted with a classical woman seated with putti and a floral filled landscape. All within a bow tied floral wreath emitting scrolling floral vinery, all within the border of a floral garland. Each delicate dropleaf decorated with a central classical urn. The table with satinwood string inlays throughout. Beneath the drawer there is a paper label that reads “H.B. Herts & Sons, 5th Avenue, New York”. H.B. Herts & Sons was established in 1846 and were dealers in antiques, and fine furniture as well as importers of English, French, Dutch and Italian furniture.
