BOLD AND DRAMATIC MAINE PAINT DECORATED ONE-DRAWER DROPLEAF STAND

1st quarter 19th century, probably West Paris, Maine. This early one-drawer stand fitted with a full dovetail drawer and two drop leaves supported on four boldly turned Sheraton legs. The bold turnings of the legs and the dramatic paint decoration is strongly reminiscent of Maine stands frequently found from the West Paris, ME area. The entirety of the stand decorated with bold black swirl design on a red background and having yellow and green pinstripe decoration.
