Bbl. 7 1/2″ w/ blade front sight. 6 Shot fluted cyl. Bullseye ejector head. Blue & case colored finish. Left side of frame is stamped “US”. Bottom of frame above S# is marked “DFC” referring to David F. Clark, principle sub inspector from 1880-1887. Hammer slot has “S” inspectors mark. Loading gate is stamped no. “1048”. Bottom of bbl. has “DFC” & “P” inspection marks. Bbl. below ejector housing has inspectors marks “C”, “G” & “D”. Cyl. has inspection mark “P” on side w/ “B” on rear surface. Frame, grip straps, bbl. & cyl. have matching numbers. 1 Piece walnut grips, right panel has “DFC” cartouche. Left panel has “1880” mfg. date over “CCM” cartouche referring to ordnance inspector Lt. Charles C. Morrison. Apparent “ST” marking followed by “REG 1” is stamped parallel to backstrap. David F. Clark inspected the largest group of Colt Cavalry revolvers. This revolver was mfg. in 1880.
