CIVIL WAR ERA CONFEDERATE GEORGIA MILITIA STAFF OFFICER’S BUTTON.

An extremely rare example of a Confederate utilized Georgia Militia button worn by staff officers. This button was produced before the war by Steele & Johnson for Horstmann & subsequently worn by Confederate forces. Albert # GA-15-A-TYPE or Tice # GA-239. Tice states that this button is so rare, most collectors do not even know of its existence. Face depicts a very well-articulated Georgia State Seal on a lined field. The reverse reads “HORSTMANN & CO . N Y & PHI . “. Full straight shank.
