U.S. M1860 NAVAL OFFICERS CUTLASS.

Overall length: 32 1/2″. Blade length: 25 3/4″.
Plain blade w/ a single wide fuller. Blade is marked at the ricasso, “Made by AMES MFG CO CHICOPEE MASS” on 1 side & “U.S.N. D.R 1862” on the other. Gilded brass cup hilt w/ “U S N” cut out of the guard. All letters are edged w/ an incised line. There are 2 lines incised into the knuckle bow extending from the ricasso to the pommel cap. Wire wrapped leather grip. Blade leather scabbard of copper rivet construction w/ correct officers star rivet at the tip.
