VERY FINE WAR OF 1812 “BUCKS VOLUNTEERS, 85TH REGIMENT” BROWN BESS FLINTLOCK MUSKET AND BAYONET.

Bbl. 39″ rnd. w/ bayonet lug

Standard India pattern, circa 1800 brown bess. Bbl. w/ proofs stamped at breech. “TOWER” lock w/ “GR” cypher & broad arrow proof. Trigger bow engraved “BUCKS VOLs / H”. The 85th regt., Bucks Vols. were apart of Army that saw action at Bladensburg, Capture Burning of Washington & the Battle of New Orleans. The 85th returned to England in 1814 & this musket is thought to be a souvenir taken in one of these actions as it appears to have seen little use.

UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: accompanying bayonet is maker marked “OSBORNE” w/ proofs & engraved “W. G. 85”.
