FINE CONDITION MODEL 1819 HALL BREECH LOADING FLINTLOCK RIFLE.

The 1st US adopted breech loading rifle & also the 1st arm to have interchangeable parts. A total of just under 20,000 were made 1819-1840. This fine condition example has browned rnd. 32 3/4″ bbl. w/ muzzle counter bored approx. 1 1/2″ & secured by 3 pin retained iron bands. Breechblock, w/ boxlock type flint cock & frizzen, tips up for loading & is held in place while down by a catch protruding from the bottom in front of trigger guard. The breechblock on this specimen, which is still in original flint configuration, is marked “J. H. HALL”, “H. FERRY”, & “U.S. 1839”. One piece walnut stock is iron mounted. Furniture is browned. Lg. trigger guard has long curve at rear serving as pistol grip. Stock appears to be unmarked except for the initial (possibly “Y”) behind trigger guard tang.
