Bbl. 28″ rnd. marked “Old Reliable” w/ Bridgeport, Conn. address. Dovetail mounted German silver blade front sight w/ Lawrence patent graduated leaf rear sight. Bottom of bbl. under forearm is numbered to rifle. Case colored single shot action. Dbl. set triggers. Walnut forearm fastened by 2 screws. Straight grip walnut stock w/ steel carbine buttplate, left side has steel blank in saddle ring bar slot. Sharps Firearms by Frank Sellers on pg. 235 states that a total of 1604 Business rifles were mfg. at Bridgeport, Conn. August 1876 to Sept. 1880 & further states “The Business rifle was made to fill the demand for a rifle cheaper than the Sporting rifle”.
