J. R. LaRue was a friend to many in the gun industry and he held a special place in our hearts at Poulin Auctions. His helpful guidance will be greatly missed.
J. R.’s guidance spanned the gun industry and included numerous manufacturers. Years ago, when the gunmakers in Huglu, Turkey wanted to spread their reputation in the United States, they contacted J. R. He knew what the American buyers liked and didn’t like, and he made certain that their guns were configured to appeal to American buyers. Over the past decade, Turkish firearms have made serious inroads into the American firearms market, and the ownership at Huglu wanted to show their appreciation.
Sadly, J. R. passed away this Winter, and Poulin Auctions is helping his family find new homes for his firearms collection. Among the many items offered are the two Huglu shotguns presented by the owner of Huglu to J. R. These guns feature full-coverage engraving and wear highly figured Turkish Walnut stocks. They are made to the specifications that J. R. liked and indeed, he hunted pheasants often with the 12-gauge gun.
